Spies Racing is proud to announce that, from the beginning of the new racing season, Xander Spies will officially enter into a training partnership with his father, Corné Spies.

This marks a significant milestone for the stable and the continuation of a proud family legacy within South African horse racing.

Xander has been involved in racing from a young age and began playing an active role in the industry at the age of 16. Having grown up around the stable, the horses and the racecourse, he has spent much of his life learning about the many demands, challenges and rewards that come with the profession.

Over the years, he has gained valuable experience from several different perspectives within the sport. He has enjoyed Grade 1 success as an owner, worked closely with many talented horses and dedicated racing professionals, and has spent close to six years developing his knowledge and experience as an assistant trainer.

During this time, Xander has played an increasingly important role within the daily operation of Spies Racing. His involvement has extended across the management of horses, communication with owners, race planning, sales, administration and the many responsibilities that take place behind the scenes of a professional racing stable.

His progression into the training ranks represents the culmination of many years of practical experience, hard work and dedication to the sport.

Corné Spies will remain fully involved in the stable and will continue to bring the knowledge, experience and proven horsemanship that have defined his career. His achievements over many years have established Spies Racing as a respected and successful name within the industry, and his guidance will remain central to the future of the operation.

The partnership will combine Corné’s extensive experience with Xander’s energy, ambition and fresh perspective as they work together to take the stable forward.

This new chapter represents both continuity and growth. The values that have always defined Spies Racing, including hard work, honesty, resilience, attention to detail and the welfare of every horse, will remain at the heart of the stable.

The partnership also reflects a shared commitment to building strong relationships with owners, developing talented horses and continuing to compete successfully at the highest possible level.

Spies Racing would like to thank its owners, staff, jockeys, supporters, friends and family for the role they have played in the journey thus far. Their loyalty, trust and continued support have been an essential part of the stable’s success.

The entire team is incredibly excited about the season ahead and the opportunities that this new partnership will bring.
