Re: UPDATE - INQUIRY JOCKEY S’MANGA KHUMALO
2 months 10 hours agoIf the rumours were true would it be the end of the Worldpool?Cannot be only 2 jocks however a full investigation will destroy racings image all together....... For how long have jocks been riding for their own pockets instead of the horses and trainers ability? More importantly how many Punters have been put behind the black ball and robbed???
We see the examples week in and week out.....

Re: UPDATE - INQUIRY JOCKEY S’MANGA KHUMALO
1 month 3 weeks agoTalented, indeed and untrustworthy, too.Such a top rider and surely he deserves a second chance to make amends
An ex-national champion jockey who averaged around R200 000 a month salary pre-tax and deductions.
Not taking into account any sponsorships.
Brandon Morgenrood was banned for life for accepting R15 000 many years back but on appeal it was reduced to 5-years because of Mark Lifman being involved.
Morgenrood then moved to New Zealand and was banned for life for attempting to cause harm to his ex-partner, a jockey, in a race.
Second chance?
Same outcome.
Smanga was never threatened or blackmailed.
A comeback would depend on the angle he uses in his defence.
But the only defence that could provide a glimmer of hope?
Be open about his issues.
Richard Fourie is the greatest...

The NHA have advised that, due to logistical considerations, the Inquiry Board will reconvene on 10 June 2026 for judgment on sentencing and the matter.
Mr Khumalo’s interim suspension remains in place pending the finalisation of the Inquiry.

Judging a person is like being an Armchair Jock to me...( I think I may be World Champion...
)
Being a Judge is a different story...I have empathy for all the opinions in this thread...I would hope I never have to take away another persons livelihood...in whatever way.
But I also have empathy for the victims.

We can all relate to no income but with this industry basically surviving on fumes...a big corruption scandal like this(even for what we are being told it's massive ..What's not been told is even bigger)
..can destroy the income of multiple people ....firstly if will be the end for many of his fellow jockeys who will battle to find work elsewhere as they are in the majority mediocre....the HK world pools could dump us...

Hearing he wasn't the only one found guilty of some dodgy dealings. On the 14th of December last year I gave up horses for good and excluded myself from all betting platforms. There's even a term in PE for when will be "greefed" it's become so normalized for a trainer to send out horses without the intention of winning and as a punter you can never get a clear answer as to weather the horse is there to attempt to win or just train. In between that and jocks doing this, this case is certainly not the only one it's just a game designed to extract money from the punter. Essentially the entire game is a carbon copy of the ANC, after many years of contributing I'm forever thankful I'll never waste a cent on this nonsense again

It’s good that people stop gambling when they lose, and especially horse racing. But they don’t understand the real reason that they stopping – crooked game and shenanigans are not the reason they are losing – it’s just the age old thing – the betting percentages are the reason the gamblers loseIn roulette the % is only 102.77 – and try to beat the roulette wheelHorses can me 110 to 130%+ - try to beat thatSports betting is the absolute best – BUT know the % and concentrate on the way to beat itAvoid like the plague the bookies “special offers” - multiples, bet builders (must be the worst one), early cash out (what a croc of shit)

2 year holiday . South africa running out of jockeys at this rate
The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Gqeberha on 5 June 2026, Jockey Sandile Khathi was charged with contraventions of Rules 72.1.17 and 72.1.37 in that he added water to a urine sample, thereby misleading the Stewards and tampering with a urine sample taken from him on 24 April 2026 at Fairview Racecourse.
Mr Khathi pleaded guilty to both charges and was found guilty accordingly.
In determining an appropriate penalty, the Inquiry Board took into account the evidence presented, the mitigating factors advanced on behalf of Mr Khathi, and his disciplinary record. The Inquiry Board imposed a penalty of suspension from riding in races for a period of 365 days.
In addition, a suspended penalty of 300 days, previously imposed for contraventions of the same Rules arising from the tampering of a urine sample on 1 March 2024, was activated.
Prior to being permitted to accept rides in races upon completion of his suspension, Mr Khathi will be required to submit three negative urine samples, one of which must be a random sample requested by a Stipendiary Steward in the area in which he is domiciled.
Mr Khathi was afforded the right to appeal against the severity of the penalties imposed. The National Horseracing Authority can confirm that Mr Khathi has elected to waive his right to appeal and has accepted the penalties imposed by the Inquiry Board.
Accordingly, Mr Khathi’s suspension will run from 6 June 2026 until 1 April 2028, both days inclusive.
