Thoughts ... competitive day's racing, bar Lanzarote in the 2nd who will be hard to beat ...
R1: Few first-timers, but I think the allowance (only 2,5 kgs since Marx-Jacobson rode 20 winners) should still prove advantageous - betting suggests that Gimme Some Luck is at least more or less ready; Expert Witness might need further to show his best; Revitalize has Murray up, but that might not be any indication, as the stable mate had a poor debut; the other raced runners had been beaten 10 lenghts or more on their debuts - the exception might be Energia who seems better suited to 1000 - all in all looks like the favorite will win
R3: Lanteri holds The Reason, while Onceinabuemoon is slightly better drawn, so not that straight-forward imo; Erik's Girl ran a much improved race last time, but needs to repeat from pole position
R4: Night Skizzle odds-on and imo no value from not an ideal draw; Shoreybomba looks imo the better bet, while Tracksuit Dave from pole position and Lookout Mountain also should improve
R5: 4/1 the field, which shows it is not easy; Military Moves on form (barring the last 2 runs) should be right there; but as an each-way bet I prefer Arlington Action; all others would not be a real surprise
R6: Another handicap for the girls; again with the allowance Soldier's Eye is my first choice, but it has been almost a year since her last visit to the winner's enclosure; in order of preference I select Woman's World and Bakwena after SE, but none of the others can be ignored, with the exception of Mount Etna perhaps
R7: Another difficult handicap; World of Royalty and Royal Engagement are relatively lightly raced, and those would be my top choices; Express Yourself has come down in the ratings and if he repeats his pinultimate run, he must have a chance; We Are The Logans has shown signs of life in his last run, while Sky Pillar Rock is in form and should have a chance as well
R8: Rinse and repeat - another lower level handicap for the girls; I think that Surprise Party on the run in December behind Duchess of Paloma could be the right one (if ignoring her last poor effort); again not easy
Enjoy
