Jet Dark was well received.
20 Lots sold for R 17 550 000 at an average of R 877 500.
Will be very interesting to see how they perform on the race track .

Take with a large pinch of salt. Most of the Jet Darks were signed for by Snaith and will no doubt be raced by Johnson who owns the stallion.
Its ridiculous when a first season sire has a sales average that is 3rd , and during the first day was ahead of champion Vercingetorix!
A similar thing happened in Seventh Rock’s first sales season when he was ramped by his owners and his sales average was close to that of champion sire Jet Master.
I like Jet Dark as a sire with potential, but his prices at this sale were no semblance of value.

I watched the sales just for the Auctioneers chirps....🤣🤣🤣
"5% Stakes winners" Does that mean a 95% non achievement rate?
I love the non-sales topping stories, Hazy Dazy R37k...Kommetdieding R55k
How many of the lots sold in 2024 have run???

5% Stakes winners means winners of "Stakes" races- ie. Grade 1,2,3 and Listed races. 5% is what useful sires achieve- champion sires can hit 10% and higher.

Thank you Peter, I do understand that, it is just when you have horses averaging R1M the fact that 95% will not achieve that, it brings some reality back.
For an unproven Sire to average such high prices, what is the message? When there are 20-30% price increases what is the message?

Snaith's ROI for owners must be terrible
