Tigershark......  believe me as a part owner of  3  race horses......   I am more than happy to race in a 5 horse field...  they all have to be FED at the end of the day.

Elvis, i agree with you, I kept my filly in race 7 with 5 scratching's.

My point is that Hollywood put up R1.09M in prizemoney and of course the cost of running the day, which myself as an owner is very grateful for. However you have trainers that scratch 30 horses, how is that adding to the partnership??? It is understandable that some horses do not act on the poly and they would be scratched, but 30 is ridiculous and puts the whole meeting in danger of being abandoned. Lets say 5 scratched by Vet, 10 don't act on the surface that have raced on it before... why were 15 more scratched???

I strongly recommend going forward that any horse scratched because of the surface should then be restricted from racing on the poly for 3 months. I would like to then hear what bedtime stories the trainers will tell owners when we are in the height of our rainy season and that is the only surface available.

I just think it is disgraceful to scratch 30 horses considering how much Hollywood has funded and is funding, including the multi million international upgrade to the poly. The unspoken agreement currently is that every stakeholder up their game and ensures that racing is successful, Operator / Owner / Breeder / Trainer / Punter / Jockey. Somehow yesterday did not feel like everyone was holding up their end.
