Randjies a birds eye view

Randjies grass track looks great not sure why they can`t use the track for proper meetings 4 or 5 times a year ?

They raced at Randjies when Charles Laird introduced the Fun Day meetings at the course years back.
It was not a spectacular event as the track gives a distinct training track look compared to the other Tvl tracks.
Bloem was far better IMO.

Nice clip (sure my house is somewhere in there) .....can clearly see the grass track, the 'black', the 'red' and the 'beach' - can't pick up the poly strip though - is it still there

I agree with Bob - the 'fun' days imo was great - not sure who paid for having the infrastructure in place to hold a race meeting - but would be nice to have say 2 meetings a year - especially now that the sand is going .... suppose money would be the issue.

I have never been to Bloem, but for me the grass track is adequate - field sizes obviously need to be restricted - also some years back the idea (scrapped because of some logistical reasons - I think) was introduced to have Randjies turned into a 'boutique' track - an idea that could have worked imo had the area to the north-east (currently occupied by commercial warehouses) not been sold off years before the 'boutique track' idea jumped into somebody's head - still think a mini-series could be made about the Randjiesfontein saga :ohmy:

The fun days were great and always fully booked, I am sure one of the problems was the gambling license ?

The power pylons? Having many people under them at once?
