Silvestre de Sousa banned for ten months by Hong Kong Jockey Club
2 years 11 months ago
From the racing post
Silvestre de Sousa has been suspended for ten months by the Hong Kong Jockey Club after pleading guilty to a betting charge on Friday.
The former champion jockey in Britain pleaded guilty alongside Vagner Borges, a fellow Brazilian rider based in Hong Kong, who was banned for 12 months.
De Sousa pleaded guilty to a charge under rule of racing 59 (3), in that he facilitated Borges having an interest in a bet on Young Brilliant at Happy Valley on April 26.

Muzi was found with a cellphone in the jockey room and got a small fine.
This is the poor policing of the sport in SA!!!

The horse Vagner Borges rode and had money on finished 7th,nevermind win.
That's how good the stipes are there in Hong Kong.
Here you can have a cell phone in the jockey room, try push a jockey off his horse in a race and get your friends to beat up a fellow jockey and you would be riding in a few weeks. And all this was performed by one jockey.
Gutless stipes we have in our country.

After the running of Race 2, the Stewards conducted a raid in the Jockey’s quarters. No issues were recorded. All jockeys and apprentices handed in their cell phones and signed the cell-phone register.

i was watching alive feed from Cape town last week and cell phones on full display before the race.
Not sure banning cellphones in jockeys room will make much of a difference if phones are allowed in saddling area, parade ring and winners circle???
