I tried to take Dave a bottle of Johnnie Walker for emotional support. I mean, who wouldn’t want a little Jonnie Walker in the ICU? Jonnie has been there through thick and thin. But no, these ICU Nurses in Pretoria insist on "regulations" and "patient safety." Selfish Cow.
Apparently, “alcohol and ventilators don’t mix.” I call BS. As if a 12-year-aged single malt has ever done anything but help a bad situation. It’s not like I was trying to set up a small ICU pub. But no, Nurse regulation looked at me like I’d tried to smuggle in next weeks Racing Post.
Fine. Keep your antiseptic, your clipboards, and your sense of duty. I’ll will sit in the lobby and raise a glass to ABC, Richard Fourie and patient safety be damned.
